Friedrich Georg Hornemann († 1786 in Hildesheim ), pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran parish church of St. Andreas and teacher at the Andreanum grammar school in Hildesheim, was the father of Friedrich Konrad Hornemann , who traveled to Africa .

Life

The dates of birth of Friedrich Georg Hornemann are unknown. Conclusions allow us to assume that he spent his youth in the Hildesheim region. A first proof of its existence can be found in the register of the University of Göttingen . He matriculated on October 24, 1748 under the Vice Rector Georg Ludwig Böhmer .

Since 1753 Hornemann preached in Hildesheim's Andreaskirche as second pastor. At the same time, he taught at the school assigned to her, the Andreanum, which taught both basic subjects and in preparation for university studies. Ludwig Gottlieb Crome , whose sister, Catharine Dorothea (1770–1800), he married in Alfeld in 1765 , also belonged to the college . She was the daughter of the consistorial councilor and general superintendent Friedrich Andreas Crome . The marriage had five children. Sophia Christina (* 1767), Charlotte Elisabeth Frederica (* 1770), Friedrich Konrad (* 1772), Christian Ludowig (* 1774) and August Wilhelm Hornemann (died on December 23, 1782, probably soon after the birth).

Hornemann was appointed councilor preacher in 1771 and became first pator a year later. As a Senior Ministerii (elder of a ministry, i.e. a minister or high official of the state or a church institution) he died in the rectory and was buried in the St. Andrew's Church in 1787.
