from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Hess (also Friedrich Heß ; * December 5, 1883 in Vienna ; † January 27, 1945 in Horn ) was a Lower Austrian homeland researcher .

Hess was a Swiss citizen through his father . Professionally he worked as a chemist. From 1931 to 1945 he lived in Thunau am Kamp . During this time he created the basis for the prehistory collection of the local history museum of the market in Gars am Kamp, founded in 1898 . Of the numerous finds, the extensive flint inventory of a late Paleolithic hunting lodge is of particular importance. Hess discovered this evidence of a cultural stage on the Stranitzberg near Zitternberg, which is rarely documented in Lower Austria . The investigation and evaluation of this location are still ongoing. Hess also found a late Neolithic , 8.9 cm long sickle knife from Baiersdorfer Platten- Hornstein , which he was able to secure on the Stranitzberg in the Goling corridor. Copper Age sickles are rare in Lower Austria.
