Friedrich Hufeland

Friedrich Hufeland (born July 18, 1774 in Weimar , † April 21, 1839 in Berlin ) was a German doctor and university professor .

Hufeland, from a family of doctors, studied medicine at the University of Jena and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . Then he went back to Weimar as a doctor. There he became Weimar City and Court Physician and Garrison Doctor in 1810 . His habilitation took place in Jena in 1811. There Hufeland was then briefly private lecturer and in 1812 also briefly associate professor of medicine.

In 1812 Hufeland moved to Berlin. There he became a full professor of medicine at the Medical and Surgical Friedrich Wilhelm Institute and an associate professor at the Berlin University .

His brother was Christoph Wilhelm Hufeland .
