Friedrich I of Haunstadt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich I von Haunstadt († probably 1225 ) was Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt from 1223 to 1225.

Life

Friedrich I came from a Bavarian noble family , presumably a ministerial . The eponymous Oberhaunstadt is now part of the independent city of Ingolstadt in Bavaria . Friedrich I von Haunstadt first appeared as the Eichstätter Canon from 1206 . The election of Frederick I as bishop took place on the day of the funeral of his predecessor Hartwig von Grögling-Dollnstein . Friedrich I had the support of the Counts of Grögling-Hirschberg . Opposite him was his later successor Heinrich I von Zipplingen . Frederick I was enfeoffed as a majority candidate by King Heinrich VII and confirmed by the Mainz Metropolitan , in the person of Bishop Siegfried II of Eppstein . Representative of Pope Honorius III. declared the election invalid and Friedrich I died without having received the episcopal ordination. The period of his activity as bishop is stated differently in sources.
