Friedrich König (President)

Friedrich Adolf König (born July 6, 1835 in Witten , † October 10, 1914 in Düsseldorf ) was President of the Westphalian Provincial Synod of the  Evangelical Church of Prussia and Superintendent of the Bochum church district .

Life

Friedrich König was born the son of Friedrich August König (pastor and superintendent in the church district of Bochum) and his wife Julie Hauser. After graduating from high school in Gütersloh, he studied theology at the universities of Bonn and Erlangen with subsequent theological exams in 1859 and 1860. In July 1861 he passed a short pedagogy exam and on July 9, 1863 became rector of the rectorate school (Latin school) in Kamen . After ordination and induction as his father's assistant , he became the first pastor in Witten on May 21, 1866. In the war of 1870/1871 , König was employed as a hospital priest in France. The introduction as a part-time superintendent of the church district Bochum fell on December 3, 1879. From 1885 he was a member of the General Synod of the Old Prussian Union and, after the election from September 25, 1902 to 1914, President of the Westphalian Provincial Synod.
