Friedrich Kalb

Friedrich Kalb (born April 23, 1925 in Kirchrüsselbach ; † February 4, 2008 in Erlangen ) was a German Protestant theologian and musicologist .

Life

Friedrich Kalb studied Protestant theology and church music in Erlangen and Marburg from 1945 to 1950 . He received his doctorate with a dissertation on The Doctrine of the Cult of the Lutheran Church at the Time of Orthodoxy . Subsequently, Kalb worked as a pastor at the Erlöserkirche and lecturer at the State University of Music in Munich , from 1958 to 1965 he was pastor at St. Lorenz and lecturer at the Conservatory in Nuremberg . Subsequently, until 1968, Kalb became director of the Church Music School in Bayreuth . From 1972 to 1980 he was dean of the church district Erlangen and from 1980 to 1990 district dean of the church district Munich .

From 1968 to 1974 Kalb was editor of the magazine Gottesdienst und Kirchenmusik . His book Grundriss der Liturgik has become a standard work on Lutheran worship.
