Friedrich Maximilian von Lersner (born February 20, 1697 in Frankfurt am Main ; † March 8, 1753 ibid) was a German librettist and mayor of Frankfurt am Main.

Von Lersner came from the noble Lersner family . His father (of the same name), Friedrich Maximilian von Lersner (1671–1731) was with his mother Susanna Catharina, geb. Baur von Eysseneck (1677–1741) married. He had 9 sisters and 5 brothers a. a. Heinrich Ludwig von Lersner (1703–1785) and Ludolf Erich von Lersner (1713–1773).

After studying in Altdorf, he went on several trips, after which he was a lawyer in the Danish service. He must have met the composer Reinhard Keizer in Copenhagen , for whom he wrote at least 4 librettos for his operas in 1722, which were premiered in Copenhagen. Afterwards von Lersner was the Danish ambassador in Paris .

From Paris in 1733 he was offered a seat on the City Council of Frankfurt am Main. In 1739 he was the junior mayor there . In 1740 he advanced to the first council bench , the aldermen's bench , to which he belonged until the end of his life. In 1747 and 1751 he was senior mayor of the imperial city, and he was also awarded the title of Imperial Councilor by Charles VII . Max III. Joseph of Bavaria appointed him on August 6, 1745 as a councilor of the Bavarian government and resident.

He was in correspondence with many scholars of his time and a. with Gerlach Adolph von Münchhausen , the first curator of the University of Göttingen .

His wife was Sophia Magdalena von Lersner (1695–1767; born von Syvertes), his firstborn son (of the same name) was Friedrich Maximilian von Lersner (1735–1804). His second-born son was Ludwig Adolf von Lersner (1739–1787), whose son was also named Friedrich Maximilian von Lersner (1781–1815).
