Friedrich Polleroß

Friedrich Bernhard Polleroß (* 1958 in Horn ) is an Austrian art historian , researcher and writer and works as a research assistant at the University of Vienna .

Life

Friedrich Polleroß grew up in Neupölla , graduated from the Horner Gymnasium and then studied art history and history at the University of Vienna, where he wrote his dissertation under Günther Heinz in 1986 with the title “The sacred identification portrait”. He started his professional career in 1986 as a contract employee at the Institute for Art History. Since 1988 Polleroß has been a university lecturer at the Institute for Art History at the University of Vienna. In 1993 he was entrusted with the management of the slide collection. Since 2011 he has also been the head of the institute's archive and Erasmus officer. His academic research focuses on the Austrian Baroque, Habsburg representation and courtly portraits in the course of art history and the regional history of the Waldviertel. Polleroß wrote numerous books, articles, catalog articles, reports and appeared as the editor of numerous international books and publications.

In addition to his professional activity, Friedrich Polleroß is, among other things, Vice President of the "Institute for Research in the Early Modern Age" in Vienna, member of the board of the "WHB" and the editorial team of the magazine "Das Waldviertel" as well as head of the " First Austrian Museum for Everyday History " in Neupölla. He also worked on a research project for the European Science Foundation and worked on a research project at the “Center de recherche du château de Versailles”.
