museum

The museum for everyday history is located in the premises of the former culture court of Neupölla in house no.10 , and was opened in 1997 on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the first documented mention of Neupölla as a market by Governor Erwin Pröll and with the President of the State Parliament Franz Romeder . The sponsors of the regional history museum are the market town of Pölla and the Neupölla village renewal association. The art historian Friedrich Polleroß has been the director since the beginning .

The museum has 6 rooms with an area of 140 m² and almost 1000 objects on display. The museum's claim is shown in the presentation of everyday history and the social change in the rural population over the past 300 years using the example of the region between Zwettl and Horn . The concept is divided into the following areas: parishes and believers (age of Gothic and Baroque), rulers and subjects (age of absolutism), markets and citizens (artisanal life from the 17th to the 19th century), housing and property conditions , Cooking and eating . Separate areas are given to the house weaving , which used to be an important sideline, and the shoemaker's workshop of Josef Krammer (1904–88) from Neupölla.

The special exhibition Neupölla 10. A House and its Inhabitants shows the history of the Walter family, who owned the present museum from 1752 to 1955. The family worked as shoemakers and farmers and was socially located between the bourgeoisie and the small farmers. Alongside this exemplary family history, the political and general social developments of the time are shown.
