Friedrich Reimerdes

Friedrich Reimerdes (born December 15, 1909 in Berlin , † June 16, 2000 in Otterstadt ) was a German church musician and composer .

Life

Friedrich Reimerdes grew up in his native Berlin. His father was a physicist, his mother had attended art school in Berlin. Reimerdes completed his Abitur at the Kaiserin-Augusta-Gymnasium in Berlin- Charlottenburg . During school he received piano lessons from various teachers and organ lessons from organist Große in Charlottenburg. He received intensive composition lessons from Curt Doebler , the organist of the Charlottenburg Herz-Jesu-Kirche .

Reimerdes studied at the Johannesstift in Spandau and passed his cantor exam there. He then worked as a cantor in the years 1938 and 1940 for the Protestant parish in Goschütz in Silesia and from 1939 to 1940 in Berlin- Heiligensee . During the Second World War he had to do military service and was taken prisoner of war. After his return from captivity, he took over his former cantor position in Berlin-Heiligensee and held it until 1976.

In 1977 Reimerdes moved with his wife to Otterstadt in Rhineland-Palatinate . From the beginning of 1979 to the end of 1994 he worked as a cantor and organist for the Protestant parish Waldsee -Otterstadt in Otterstadt .

Friedrich Reimerdes was married. He died after a long illness at the age of 90 in his adopted home Otterstadt.

Friedrich Reimerdes created a variety of church music compositions; For example, Carus-Verlag in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart , one of the leading German music publishers in the field of serious music , has published more than 290 works by him. Most of his compositions were written between 1955 and 1990.
