Friedrich Salomon Kaltschmidt

Friedrich Salomon Kaltschmidt (* around 1670 ; † after 1726 ) was a German church musician in Küstrin , Berlin and Stettin .

Life

Friedrich Salomon Kaltschmidt came from Lausitz . He studied in Wittenberg and became cantor in Küstrin in the Neumark. In 1702 he was appointed cantor at the St. Marien Church in Berlin by the magistrate , against the resistance of the provost Philipp Jacob Spener , who rejected him because he belonged to the Lutheran Orthodox camp and accused him of leading a loose life . He also taught at the Berlin Gymnasium for the Gray Monastery . In 1715 Kaltschmidt was transferred to the Jerusalem Church in Friedrichstadt for an unspecified offense . In 1716 he left this position and went to Stettin , where he was also a teacher at the local council school. He was mentioned there for the last time in 1726.
