Friedrich Seifriz (politician, 1849)

Friedrich Seifriz (born September 19, 1849 in Baindt , † November 20, 1912 in Miklauzhof ) was an Austrian landowner and politician.

Friedrich Seifriz was a son of Prince Salm's estate manager in Baindt. He did a commercial apprenticeship and came to Carinthia as a young man , where he initially held an office clerk position. To further his education, he attended the mountain school in Klagenfurt and completed his internship at the Eisenkappel mining administration, initially as a miner and later in the law firm. At this time he met the heiress of the nearby Miklauzhof, Katharina Plassnig. They married on May 12, 1878. Seifriz continued to expand the estate, to which a number of businesses were attached. So he let z. B. introduce electricity and built a private house for the staff. In addition to managing his property and his political career, he was a member of the district school board in Völkermarkt, postmaster and board member of the Vellachtalbahn .

Political career

Seifriz was a member of the Austrian German People's Party , a party of German nationalism under the leadership of Otto Steinwender . At the age of 33, Seifriz was elected mayor of the municipality of Sittersdorf in 1882 , an office that he held until shortly before his death. In the election in 1905 he was elected to the Austrian Reichsrat . The next election (1907) he lost against the Slovenian candidate.

Honors

Friedrich Seifriz was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit with Crown and the title of Imperial Councilor by Emperor Franz Josef I for his services .
