Anton Kreuzer (born June 14, 1932 in Unterpreitenegg ) is an Austrian publicist.

Life

Anton Kreuzer was born in Lavanttaler , comes from a family of mountain farmers on both his father's and mother's side, was born in Unterpreitenegg in 1932 near the vulgo Marcher (mother's parents' house) and grew up in a family with many children in the Auerlinggraben in modest circumstances. He spent his middle school years as a pupil of the Episcopal boys' seminar Marianum at Tanzenberg Castle , where he came in the post-war year 1946 as a school leaver, attended the humanistic grammar school there and graduated from high school in 1954 . Entering into professional life, he chose the administrative service at a federal authority in Klagenfurt . The city was to remain the framework of his life from then on.

After a twenty-year civil servant career , he switched to the private sector in 1975: Kreuzer took over the management of a book publisher . However, his interest was not limited to the publishing work, the main focus of which was the publication of a multi-volume documentary on National Socialism in Carinthia , but also extended to his own writing.

He made a name for himself as an author with a history of the watch on the wrist , the standard work on wristwatches from the Swiss Omega , and a 13-volume Carinthian country biography with around 2,500 individual portraits from ten centuries. In his numerous local historical publications and articles in various media, he always tried to make the story speak for itself. In this way he was able to expand the population's knowledge of the history of the country and to increase interest in folklore and local history . The public honors and awards he received for his creative achievements include the Great Decoration of Honor of the State of Carinthia (1999) and the professional title of Professor (2005) conferred by the Federal President .
