Life

Sporleder attended the Lyceum in Wernigerode from 1800 to 1806, studied law in Göttingen and became secretary to the count's government in Wernigerode, later councilor and in 1840 government and consistorial councilor. He was particularly fond of natural history, especially botany. He put on an extensive collection of natural materials.

Sporleder was a member of the scientific association in Wernigerode.

On December 23, 1874, he made his will, which was published on April 28, 1875. In it he appointed his wife Friederike geb. Kallenbach became a universal heir. After their death, the following were to be handed over from his estate to Count Otto zu Stolberg-Wernigerode :

  • his printed books of natural history for the Count's main or Fideikommiss library in Wernigerode
  • his herbarium and the rest of his natural history collection along with the associated cupboards and lockers for the count's natural history cabinet
  • 3,500 thalers (= 10,500 marks) for the purpose of using the interest on this capital to support and promote community health care in Wernigerode and Nöschenrode .

After the widow Sporleder died on September 2, 1884, the testamentary provisions came into effect. Thereupon, on November 16, 1884, Count Otto issued a statute for the administration of the Sporleather Legate for Nursing and entrusted its administration to his consistory.
