Friedrich W. Herberg

Friedrich W. Herberg (* 1960 in Herbede ) is a German biochemist .

Life

Herberg was born in Herbede, Westphalia, in 1960. From 1979 to 1986 he studied chemistry , biology and Protestant theology at the Ruhr University in Bochum . 1990 doctorate he attended the Medical Faculty of the Ruhr-University Bochum in physiological chemistry Dr. rer. nat. via the myotome membranes of the lancetfish Branchiostoma lanceolatum . He then worked as a scientist at the University of California, San Diego , and again at the Ruhr University Bochum . In 1998 he won the Bennigsen Foerder Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1999 he received his habilitation , and Herberg was granted the license to teach physiological chemistry. Since 2002 he has been Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Kassel .

His research focuses on cAMP -dependent protein kinases and the associated complex cellular signal transduction .

In addition to his work as a scientist, he founded Biaffin Zimmermann & Herberg GbR in 2000 as a spin-off from the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The legal form of the company was changed in 2001 to a GmbH & Co. KG .
