Friedrich Wilhelm Eigler
Friedrich Wilhelm Eigler (born May 10, 1932 in Sangerhausen ) is a German emeritus for surgery.
Life
Eigler studied medicine at the Philipps University of Marburg , the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg , the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich and the Justus Liebig University of Gießen . In 1956 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. He received his surgical training in Cologne from Georg Heberer . In 1971, Eigler came to the then Essen Medical Faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum as full professor , where he took over the department of general surgery as director. On July 5, 1972, he transplanted his first kidney in Essen. The first liver transplant followed in 1987. With his clinic, Eigler was involved in Eurotransplant and in the KfH Board of Trustees for Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation . He played a leading role in the restructuring of the West German Tumor Center in Essen. After 27 years he retired in 1998.
