Friedrich Wilhelm Franke
Friedrich Wilhelm Franke (born June 21, 1862 in Barmen (today a part of Wuppertal ), † April 3, 1932 in Cologne ) was a German organist .
He worked as a teacher for organ , harmony and counterpoint at the Cologne Conservatory . Among other things, he was the organist of the Gürzenich Concerts in Cologne and numerous Rhenish music festivals. His life's work was aimed at renewal efforts within Protestant church music . He has rendered services to the revival of old Protestant forms of church music. The church musicians Father Gregor Schwake OSB and Alfred Sittard were among his students .
