Friedrich Wilhelm Lomler

Friedrich Wilhelm Lomler (born October 1, 1774 in Ernstthal (Schleusegrund) , † August 3, 1845 in Saalfeld ) was a German Lutheran theologian and writer.

After the early death of his father († 1780), a forester, his mother moved to live with his grandmother in Eisfeld, where he and his three siblings had to make a living at an early age. Sponsored by the rector Johann Werner Krauss, he attended high school in Schleusingen from 1789–1792 . In 1795 he was a private tutor in the Gotthelf Greiner family and in Wallendorf the next year. In 1800 he studied philology in Leipzig.

From 1802 he was pastor in Weitersroda near Hildburghausen, became a preacher in Hildburghausen and pastor in Häselrieth in 1805 , superintendent in Heldburg in 1819 and senior pastor, superintendent and court preacher in Saalfeld in 1829.

In 1802 Lomler founded the short-lived magazine Chronik für Franken . From 1822 he published the practical preacher newspaper as a supplement to the general church newspaper for ten years . In 1830 he was honored with a doctorate in theology from the University of Jena .
