Weitersroda is a district of Hildburghausen in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

Weitersroda is located at the foot of the Hildburghausen Forest in a large crescent-shaped open space that is used for tourism and agriculture. The district roads 117 and 115 open up the place.
history
The village was first mentioned in 1340 and the documents were archived. 313 people live in the district (as of 2012). Sights are the castle , the church from 1792 and the Jewish cemetery . The Weitersrodaer Schloss was a forerunner fortification of the Lords of Heßberg from 1376 to 1570. Later the property belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen . In 2008, Florian Kirner from Munich took over the castle under the artist name “Prince Chaos II”. Since then, it has served as a cultural venue , for example for the "Bird of Paradise Festival", a small festival for alternative songwriters, which has been held annually since 2011.
