Birkenfeld is a district of the city of Hildburghausen in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

Birkenfeld is located in the south-eastern outskirts of Hildburghausen near the federal highway 89 and south of the Werra.

history

Birkenfeld was first mentioned in a document as early as 802–817 and the documents were archived. There is a psychiatric nursing home in the district. The Stirnberg , the Hohe Wart and the Massenhäuser Grund are places of relaxation for the citizens and guests of the city. The place was incorporated in 1974.
