Florian Ernst Kirner (aka Prince Chaos II ; born January 10, 1975 in Munich ) is a German journalist , cabaret artist and songwriter .

Life

Kirner attended the Luisengymnasium in Munich and graduated from high school in 1995. The following year he moved to Hamburg, where he co-founded the Trotskyist organization Linksruck and, from 1996, editor-in-chief of its monthly newspaper of the same name. On instructions from the Linksruck management, he temporarily became a member of the Jusos , but resigned there in 1998. In 2000, Kirner resigned from the position of editor-in-chief and other offices at Linksruck and left the organization a little later.

Since 1999 Kirner has appeared as a songwriter under the stage name Prince Chaos II . After the release of his debut CD Jahr 100,000 Victory Night in 2000 (published on the music label Sturm & Klang ), his role model Franz Josef Degenhardt accepted him into the “Brotherhood of Singers”. His work as a cabaret artist reflects his private engagement against right-wing radicalism, homophobia, nuclear power, militarism and social injustice.

In 2001 he moved to Cologne and studied Anglo-American history, Middle and modern history and Japanese studies at the University of Cologne . From 2001 to 2004 he worked for the advertising agency BBDO in Düsseldorf. From 2004 to 2006 he stayed in Japan in order to realize the D-Haus project and the replica of the Simplicissimus artists' pub in Tokyo as part of Germany Year in Japan 2005/2006 in cooperation with the cultural department of the German Embassy Tokyo. In 2006 he completed his studies with a Magister Artium .

In 2007 Kirner moved to Berlin. There he wrote under the pseudonyms Donna San Floriante and Commander Shree Stardust for the daily newspaper Junge Welt and for the magazine Melodie und Rhythmus .

In 2008 he acquired the Weitersroda Castle in Hildburghausen, Thuringia, and has been organizing the bird songwriter festival there once a year since 2011 . After Kirner was physically attacked by the local Nazi scene in 2008, right-wing death threats and an arson attack on a vehicle came at the Bird of Paradise Festival in 2012. Not least because of Kirner's calm reaction, his project was able to integrate well into the civil society environment.

Together with Konstantin Wecker , with whom Kirner has a long-term collaboration on stage, he published the pamphlet Call for Revolt in 2013 . His CDs have been released on Wecker's record label Sturm und Klang since 2008 .

In 2014 he was initially involved in the controversial vigil for peace despite his own concerns about their insufficient demarcation from " anti-Semitism " and "fascist infiltration", but said in September 2014 with regard to the participation of Ivo Sasek and his " right-wing sect" Anti -Censorship coalition declined its own participation in a "March on the State Parliament of North Rhine- Westphalia" planned by the movement. He himself advocates a broad “ anti-fascist alliance against the right”.

In 2017 he switched to the music label Digitale Dissidenz from Bruno Kramm as a songwriter . In the same year he founded the music project Rebellische Saiten together with the Schandmaul musician Anna Katharina Kränzlein . In 2019 the band project Princess & Rebell was born , their first single "Der Pfahl" was released in August 2019 on Wecker's label Sturm & Klang .

He is the author and co-founder of the Rubikon author's blog . In 2019 his first novel Lighter than Air was published .

Florian Kirner has been the first chairman of Hildburghäuser Werberings eV, the association for merchants, tradespeople and freelancers in Hildburghausen, since October 2019.

reception

In April 2016, the Mittelbayerische Zeitung wrote about Kirner's current program “Cabaret & Songs” that it inspires the audience, but also challenges it with “astute humor, [...] surprising breaks and radical changes in mood”. The Donaukurier found in March 2017 that Kirner's "satire often had the sparkling punchlines [missing]", even though he made music with "a lot of passion and verve [...]".

family

Kirner was married to a Japanese partner of the same age. He is the great-grandson of the Munich artist and cabaret artist Theo Prosel and grandson of the actor Walther Diehl . His father comes from an anti-fascist working class family.
