Friedrich Wilhelm Rautert

Friedrich Wilhelm Alexander Rautert (born February 1, 1783 in Hattingen ; † November 23, 1858 in Büren ) was a German lawyer and writer.

Life

Friedrich Wilhelm Rautert was born as the son of the district judge Adolph Rautert (1750-1832) and Henrietta Kalls. He studied from 1800 to 1802 at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Law . In the first year of his studies he joined the Erlanger Westphalia (1794-1809) . After completing his studies, he completed his legal clerkship with the government in Münster . In 1805 he became city and regional judge and later mayor of Hattingen. He held the office until 1817. In 1818 he was appointed judicial commissioner in Kleve . From 1819 to 1826 he was the initiator and president of the Westphalian Memorial Festival. In 1824 he returned to Hattingen and was again city and regional judge. In 1829 he moved to Büren in the same position, where he resigned from his position in 1838.

As a writer, he wrote in particular about the Ruhr area and its population, often under the pseudonym Ruhrmann an der Ruhr . He was the founder of the Union of Brandenburg Academics and editor of the yearbooks of the commemorative festivals of the Westphalian sons of the muses. He was a Freemason and belonged to the Lodge Zum Westfälischen Löwen Schwelm .
