Friedrich Wilhelm Rostkovius

Friedrich Wilhelm Gottlieb Theophil Rostkovius (* 1770 , † 1848 ) was a Prussian , German doctor , botanist and mycologist (mycologist). Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Rostk. "

education and profession

Rostkovius was a student of the botanist Carl Ludwig Willdenow and received his doctorate in 1801 with a treatise on rushes (Dissertatio botanica inauguralis de Junco) at the University of Halle. He then practiced as a doctor in Szczecin .

Others

The scientific name of the common eyebright ( Euphrasia rostkoviana ) is named after Rostkovius, as is the genus Rostkovia, one of the seven genera of the rush family .
