Friedrich Wilhelm Schreiner

Friedrich Wilhelm Schreiner (* 1836 in Cologne , † 1922 in Düsseldorf ) was a German landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Schreiner studied painting as a private student of Andreas Achenbach , Wilhelm Camphausen and Johann Wilhelm Lindlar . He toured Germany, Switzerland and Italy. In Düsseldorf, where he settled as a freelance painter, he was a member of the Malkasten artists' association . In addition to naturalistic landscapes, he also composed ideal landscapes that are in the tradition of Carl Friedrich Lessing . Numerous representations of oaks earned him the nickname "oak carpenter".
