Friedrich Wisser

Friedrich Wisser (born November 2, 1834 in Windischholzhausen , † June 14, 1896 in Erfurt ) was a landowner and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Wisser attended the community school in Windischholzhausen and ran his estate independently since 1868. He was a member of the district committee in Erfurt from 1872 to 1878 and a member of the Saxon provincial council from 1873 to 1879. He was also a member of the church and school board and the community council in Windischholzhausen. In 1883 he was a co-founder of the General German Farmers' Association on the basis of the Eisenach program and headed the association's efforts as its chairman. The organ of this association, the "Deutsche Bauern-Zeitung", was founded by him in 1884.

From 1890 to 1893 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach 3 ( Jena - Neustadt an der Orla ). As an independent liberal, he did not belong to any parliamentary group in the Reichstag.

In 1896 he was embroiled in a perjury scandal and shortly before the scheduled trial he committed suicide while in custody.
