Friedrich von Gersdorff

Friedrich Goswin Woldemar von Gersdorff (born September 12, 1838 in Nawwast , Livonia ; † February 24, 1898 in Odessa , Ukraine ) was an Imperial Russian major general .

Life

Von Gersdorff came from the noble family Gersdorff . He was a son of Alexander Paul von Gersdorff (1804–1864) and his wife Leocadie Volmerange-Helmund (1810–1893), whose mother Luise was the daughter of Gottlob Siegmund von Brasch .

He was a German Baltic and a gentleman on Berezovka in Podolia .

At the end of November 1876, shortly beforehand promoted to lieutenant colonel, he became chief of a squadron . At the end of 1878 he was appointed colonel and from the beginning of 1888 he was deployed as commander of a reserve cavalry unit.

At the end of 1878 he had married Lyubov Leontjevna Vale-Kukuli (1848-1901) in Odessa. The couple had two sons. The son Georg Friedrich (1881–1948) later became the Russian governor and lieutenant governor of Podolia.
