He married Elisabeth in 1679, widowed Schrapfer, born von Nieroth from the Weissenfeld family , daughter of the Estonian district administrator Magnus von Nieroth († 1671). Career

Löwen was in French service from 1708 to 1710 with the regiment "Sparre" . In 1710 he was promoted to major in the Swedish service, but then transferred to Russian services . From 1696 to 1721 he was the Estonian district administrator. As a Russian major general, he was vice governor in Reval from 1711 to 1730 . During this time, due to the absence of the governor general, he frequently ran the business and was very influential. From 1730 to 1736 he held the post of governor in Estonia. At the request of the knighthood, he undertook the first revision of Estonian knight and land law and initiated the decree of the Governor General of Estonia on church building and preacher justice of 1719.
