Frightmare is an American metal band from Portland , Oregon that formed in 2002.
history
The band was formed in mid-2002 by "Maniac" Neil Smith. In the same year, the band began working on the first songs, which were lyrically influenced mainly by various slasher films from the late 1970s and early 1980s. The recordings for the debut album Midnight Murder Mania also took place in the same year, so that the album was released in winter 2003. The band project was paused up to and including 2004 so that the band members could devote themselves to other projects. In early 2004, work began on the second album Bringing Back the Bloodshed . The album was released in 2006 via Razorback Records .
style
The band mixes influences from Death Metal , Thrash Metal , Grindcore and Punk . The singing is extremely deep and always kept guttural , whereby the occasional use of pig squeals is also common.
