The Fritz-Lauritzen-Park is a green area in the Elmschenhagen district of the Schleswig-Holstein state capital, Kiel . The park is located between Rüsterstrasse, Egerstrasse, Landskroner Weg, Reichenberger Allee and Elmschenhagener Allee and is about 6 hectares in size.
history
The renaming of the previously unnamed green area was decided by the Kiel Council on November 21, 1996. The name is reminiscent of Fritz Lauritzen (February 12, 1882 - March 15, 1971), who in 1927 was the full-time community leader of the then still independent community of Elmschenhagen. In 1933 he was removed from office by the National Socialists. His son Lauritz Lauritzen was Lord Mayor of the City of Kassel from 1954 to 1963 and Hessian Minister for Justice and Federal Affairs from 1963 to 1966 .
