Fritz Bäther

Fritz Bäther (born December 5, 1928 in Groß Machmin , Pomerania province , † October 29, 1979 in Schöningen ) was a German SPD politician.

Bäther attended elementary school from 1934 to 1942 and was drafted into military service as a flak helper in 1943. He was taken prisoner.

After his release from captivity, he apprenticed as a blacksmith. Bäther began working for the Braunschweig coal mines and was released from work as a member of the works council. From 1950 he was a functionary of the DGB and joined the SPD in 1952. From 1961 to 1972 he was a member of the city council of Schöningen and spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group there. After his council activity he became a member of the district council of the Helmstedt district in 1972 . Bäther was a member of the association assembly of the Greater Braunschweig Association from 1972 to 1974 and became a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for the 7th and 8th electoral periods from June 21, 1970 to June 20, 1978.
