Fritz Bornemann (religious priest)

Fritz Bornemann SVD (born August 29, 1905 in Dortmund , † April 8, 1993 in Steyl ) was a German theologian and Steyler missionary .

Life

After graduating from high school in Steyl in 1925, he joined the Societas Verbi Divini and the seminary in Sankt Augustin on September 8, 1925. After the first vows on September 8, 1927, the perpetual vow on October 26, 1930 he received in Rome the priestly ordination on 25 October 1931. He taught from 1932 to 1934 in Sankt Augustin and Thomas Apoloketik reading. In Mission St. Gabriel dwelling he studied from 1934 to 1937 at the University of Vienna Ethnology. After completing his doctorate The Constancy of Culture in Cultural and Historical Ethnology in Vienna in 1937 , he taught at the Fu-Jen University in Beijing from 1940 to 1946 . In 1946 he traveled to New York City and Chicago to study ethnological literature on the Philippines. In 1948 he was appointed editor of the Anthropos magazine and head of the Anthropos Institute. From autumn 1958 he conducted research as a historian of the Steyler Mission in Rome.
