Fritz Fend (born October 14, 1915 in Frankfurt am Main , † December 16, 1944 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) was a German football player .

Career

Fend belonged to the FSV Frankfurt as a midfielder , for whom he played point games from 1938 to 1940 in the Gauliga Südwest , in one of initially 16, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as the uniform top division in the German Reich . He finished his first season with the team in second place, three points behind Gaumeister Wormatia Worms . The following season, which began on August 27, 1939 with the first day of the game, was interrupted at the beginning of the Second World War after the first day of the game and was later rescheduled in two seasons of seven teams each. At the end of the season, FSV Frankfurt finished the Mainhessen season as third-placed.

While he was a member of the club, Fend took part in the competition for the Tschammerpokal , the cup competition for club teams introduced in 1935. He made his debut on August 28, 1938 in a 3-0 first round win against CSC 03 Kassel . In the 2nd round on September 11th, BC Hartha was defeated 3-1 on their own pitch . He scored his first goal on October 9 in a 3-1 win over Fortuna Düsseldorf with the opening goal to make it 2-1 in the 81st minute. FSV Frankfurt reached the semi-finals via the quarter-finals , which were divided into elimination rounds . The encounter on December 11th with the Wiener Sport-Club - emerged from the elimination round Ostmark as a result of the annexation of Austria - in the stadium on Bornheimer Hang was won 3-2 thanks to his penalty in the 87th minute .

The final against SK Rapid Wien , which only took place on January 8, 1939 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium , was lost 3-1; Fend was 22 years old and a soldier at the time. Despite the Frankfurt lead in the 17th minute by Franz Dosedzal , the game in the famous Rapid quarter of an hour went within ten minutes with goals from Georg Schors (80th), Johann Hofstätter (85th) and Franz Binder (90th) lost.

Fend died on December 16, 1944 in a Soviet prisoner-of-war camp in Kiev.
