Franke belonged to the Chemnitzer BC as a striker , for whom he played point games in the championships organized by the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs in the 1926/27 season in the Gau Central Saxony.

As a champion with four points before SV Sturm Chemnitz emerged from this, he and his team consequently took part with another 26 Gaumeisters in the final round of the Central German Championship , which was held in the knockout system .
