Fritz Gesing
Fritz Gesing (born August 16, 1945 in Bad Hersfeld ) is a German writer .
Life
After studying German, political science , sociology, philosophy and education in Marburg and Göttingen and passing the 2nd state examination, Fritz Gesing taught for six years as a teacher at a private school. After extended stays in Cambridge, England, and Aix-en-Provence, he received his doctorate between 1985 and 1988 at the University of Freiburg about the novel Stiller by Max Frisch and worked scholarly and journalistic, nonfiction and novels wrote. Today he lives as a freelance writer in Schondorf am Ammersee . He sits on the advisory board of the Hamburg School of Writing and was a member of the historical novel Quo Vadis , which disbanded in 2014.
Works
Fritz Gesing began with poetry (first published in anthologies in 1965) and wrote short stories for the radio and a play in the 1970s (premiered in 1980). Since the 1980s he has published essays, among others for the SZ am weekend , book reviews for the SZ , Die Zeit and Die Woche as well as scientific articles on contemporary literature and literary psychology in compilations. In addition, his dissertation and several non-fiction books have been published, including much-cited longsellers on creative writing . His first historical novel was published under the pseudonym Frederik Berger in 1999 , which has been followed by eight more to this day. They play in the south of France, Italy and Germany during the Renaissance and the Middle Ages. The time-critical novel The Provençal Heaven , set in Provence in 1986 , was also published under Frederik Berger .
