Fritz Hartmann (painter, 1878)
Fritz Hartmann (born December 31, 1878 , † March 9, 1961 Wuppertal ) was a German painter and etcher .
Fritz Hartmann was born in what is now Wuppertal. He completed an apprenticeship as a copper printer in Berlin, in 1903 he learned the etching technique in England. In 1923 he went to the Düsseldorf Art Academy , where he worked as a teacher until 1933. Then he worked as a painter and etcher in the “Getreidehaus” art studio in Düsseldorf . His works appear more often in the trade; mainly there are etchings with landscapes and cityscapes, sometimes also portraits.
Fritz Hartmann maintained friendships with his artist colleagues Richard Bloos , Max Clarenbach and Carl Plückebaum .
