Fritz Loetsch

Fritz Loetsch (born February 19, 1909 in Dresden , † February 1, 1987 in Reinbek ) was a German forest scientist and university professor.

Life

Fritz solder studied at the Royal Saxon Academy of Forestry Forest Sciences and in 1928 a member of the Corps Silvania Tharandt . In 1958 he received the ribbon of the Corps Arminia Munich . After completing his studies, Loetsch became a Dr.-Ing. In 1932 with a forest science topic. from the Technical University of Dresden , to which the Tharandt Forestry University had been affiliated since 1929. In 1940 he completed his habilitation there in forestry. He moved to the Institute for Foreign and Colonial Forestry , which was moved from Tharandt to Reinbek in 1939 and which was converted into the Federal Research Institute for Forestry and Wood Management in the 1950s , and became a professor there. His research focus was the forest inventory . In 1955 he developed a special procedure for a forest area inventory for the small private forest in the Prüm district , which was based mainly on aerial photographs. The method was used in practice for an inventory of Thai forests, especially teak trees, between 1955 and 1957 on behalf of the Food and Agriculture Organization .
