Fritz Neuber

Fritz Neuber (Carl Friedrich Neuber) (born October 10, 1837 in Cologne , † August 10, 1889 in Hamburg ) was a German sculptor .

As a pupil of the wood carver Christoph Stephan (1797–1864), who was associated with Cologne cathedral construction works , and of Julius Lippelt (1829–1864), he continued his education in Vienna, Berlin and Paris. In 1863 he moved to Hamburg. What was important to him was the recognizability of the people as well as the historical correctness and the accuracy of the costumes. Later he created ideal figures for private individuals in “excellent technique: Mignon, the finding of Moses, nymph with the boy Dionysus, a long frieze from Wilh's“ Nibelungs ”. Jordan and several excellent busts, e.g. B. those of the aforementioned Jordan, the king's daughter Isolde and Dorina la bella. ”In 1872 he took part in the competition for the regimental monument 1870/71 (today's location Alsterufer / Fontenay), which Johannes Schilling won. Fritz Neuber was a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association from 1832 .
