Fritz Rühs (born September 22, 1920 in Rostock ; † July 16, 1997 ) was a German mathematician who worked primarily in the field of function theory .

Live and act

Fritz Rühs originally worked in the field of algebra and was employed as an assistant with a teaching position at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Rostock . In 1953 he was at Rudolf Kochendörffer with the work the theory of simple transitive permutation Dr. rer. nat. PhD . In 1957 he completed his habilitation with the work on general Rédeische skewed product.

In 1958 Rühs was appointed lecturer at the Bergakademie Freiberg and there director of the Institute for General Mathematics. In 1959 he became a professor with a teaching assignment, in 1961 a professor with a full teaching assignment and in 1962 a professor with a chair . In 1962 he was one of the initiators of the establishment of the mathematics diploma course at the Bergakademie Freiberg. In 1968 the "Institute for General Mathematics" and the "Institute for Applied Mathematics" were merged to form the "Mathematics Section". Fritz Rühs headed the analysis chair until his retirement in 1986.

Rühs was the author of the textbook Function Theory , which appeared in four editions. At the Bergakademie Freiberg he was co-author of the courses in higher mathematics .
