Fritz Reimann

Fritz Reimann (1986)

Friedrich "Fritz" Reimann (born September 22, 1924 in Oberhof , Canton Aargau ; † November 7, 2018 in Thun ) was a Swiss trade unionist and politician ( SP ).

The son of a small farmer and forester trained as a toolmaker. In 1951 he became union secretary at the Swiss metal and watch workers' association SMUV in Aarau . In 1959 he took over the management of the SMUV secretariat in Thun. 1973 Reimann became central secretary of the SMUV in Bern. From 1980 to 1988 he was president of this union and from 1982 to 1990 president of the Swiss Federation of Trade Unions (SGB) .

Reimann began his political career in Thun . There he was a member of the city council from 1962 to 1976. From 1974 to 1978 he represented the SP in the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern and from 1979 to 1991 in the National Council .
