Fritz Rothe (born August 20, 1867 in Burtscheid near Aachen , † August 18, 1958 in Baden-Baden ) was a German chemist and manager.

Life

Fritz Rothe studied chemistry and metallurgy at the RWTH Aachen and the universities of Berlin and Rostock . In 1886 he became a member of the Academic Association of Chemists, Miners and Metalworkers , which later became Corps Montania Aachen. After graduating as Dr. phil. he switched to the chemical industry. He began his career at Chemische Fabrik Rhenania AG . From there he moved to the Chemical Factory Association in Mannheim and subsequently to the August Beringer paint factory in Berlin-Charlottenburg.

This was followed by a year-long employment in Hamburg-Billwerder at Dynamit-Aktien-Gesellschaft vorm in 1897/1898 . Alfred Nobel & Co. to take care of a new test facility and calcium cyanamide tests by Adolph Frank .

After his resignation he took over the management of the chemical factory in Billwärder in 1899 , vorm. Hall & Sthamer AG in Hamburg- Billwerder . From there he was appointed to the management board of the electrochemical works in Bitterfeld and other subsidiaries. In 1923 he moved to Rhenania, Verein Chemischer Fabriken AG, headquartered in Aachen, and since 1925 Rhenania-Kunheim , Verein Chemischer Fabriken AG based in Berlin. After their merger with Kaliwerke Neu-Staßfurt - Friedrichshall AG in 1928, he became a full member of the board of Kali Chemie AG.

Rothe received numerous patents. Of his inventions, his participation in a process for the production of a Ca-Na silicophosphate, the rhenania phosphate , which was produced by annealing apatite with soda and quartz sand in rotary kilns at 1200 ° C and which is characterized as a fertilizer by high plant availability , is particularly noteworthy . He was a deputy board member of the trade association for the chemical industry and a member of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society for the Advancement of Science .
