Fritz Specht (writer)

Fritz Specht (born October 30, 1891 in Hamburg , † March 3, 1975 in Wentorf near Hamburg ) was a Low German writer .

Life

Specht, son of a teacher, attended the universities of Munich and Rostock after graduating from high school to study German and New Languages. From 1930 he worked as a teacher for middle schools, first in Parchim , and later also in Ludwigslust and Rostock . The Quickborn publishing house had previously published his book Niederdeutsche Scherze (1929) - a well-known collection by Döntjes .

Specht has been a freelancer for the Hamburg broadcaster from the founding of Nordische Rundfunk AG (NORAG). During the Nazi era, he became head of the Low German department at NORAG and remained so until the end of the Second World War.

After 1945, Specht worked as a teacher again, now in his native Hamburg. Soon Specht could be heard on the radio again, namely as the author and speaker of the series Hör mal 'n prayen to ; as such, it became extremely popular with the audience. The book Fritz Specht vertellt (1973) summarizes some of his contributions for the show.

Fritz Specht was married and had four sons and a daughter.
