Fritz Steimer

Fritz Steimer (* 15. January 1947 in Hausen Killertal ) is a professor at the Faculty of Digital Media of the University of Furtwangen University . His main areas of expertise are (online) marketing , (online) advertising and e-business .

life and career

Steimer held responsible positions at a large German computer manufacturer for 13 years, including as head of international marketing. During this time he was a member of the EKOM (Expert Commission for New Media) of the state of Baden-Württemberg under the leadership of the then Prime Minister Lothar Späth . In 1987 Steimer was appointed professor at the Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences (now Furtwangen University). There, he taught and conducted research at first in the Department of Economics computer science . In 1989, Steimer was at the University of Stuttgart with the theme "potential uses of new media in medium-sized companies" Dr. rer. pole. PhD.

As part of the “Fachhochschule 2000” funding program, Steimer designed and founded Europe's first university degree in media informatics from 1989 to 1990 , for which he was awarded the Baden-Württemberg teaching award in 2003 by Science Minister Peter Frankenberg . As a result of the establishment, professors Aichele and Kerres were appointed to support him in setting up and expanding the course and the associated laboratories and studios.

Steimer was the dean of this course for six years , which was then expanded to include the online media course in 2000/2001 and then integrated into the digital media faculty. Also in 2001, Steimer developed the curricular concept for the master’s degree in Computer Science in Media , which he has headed since then. This course was accredited in 2003 and enables graduates to a. for entry into the higher service. He was and is also strongly committed to the international orientation of the faculty courses, especially through cooperation with the San Francisco State University. Another agreement at master's level with the University of Leiden in Holland is in preparation.

Steimer also heads the Transfer Center for Marketing Communication New Media at the Steinbeis Foundation for Economic Development. He is the author of two specialist books, numerous publications and has been a speaker at many specialist congresses.
