Fritz Zopfi

Fritz Zopfi (born August 15, 1910 in Schwanden GL ; † June 3, 1989 in Langnau im Emmental ) was a Swiss journalist and pioneer in place name research .

Life

Fritz Zopfi grew up as the son of a police officer in Schwanden GL. He attended the Küsnacht seminar from 1926 to 1930 and then studied German, history and English at the University of Zurich .

From 1944 he was editor-in-chief of the Emmentaler Blatt, from 1973 to 1976 of the Berner Zeitung . He also worked as a place and field name researcher. He is considered a Swiss pioneer in this discipline.
