Fritz von Waldthausen (born May 9, 1887 in Bremen , † December 12, 1957 in Essen ) was a German banker and member of the Waldthausen industrial family .

Friedrich (called Fritz ) von Waldthausen was born on May 9, 1887 as the son of the merchant Emil Waldthausen (1844–1888) and his wife Marie Henriette, b. Lohmann (1862–1937), born in Bremen and grew up there. His maternal grandfather was the director of the Norddeutscher Lloyd shipping company, Johann Georg Lohmann . In 1919 Waldthausen married Fritze Mohr, b. Grühn (1880–1955), whose first marriage was to the banker Karl Wilhelm Mohr. In 1931 he adopted their daughter Asta Mohr (1908–1971), who from then on carried the surname of Waldthausen. Asta von Waldthausen, b. Mohr, married the businessman Hans-Oskar von Kretschmann (1903–1962) in 1931.

Fritz von Waldthausen graduated after attending a humanistic Gymnasium in Bremen a bank training . This was followed by a degree in economics and law in Lausanne, Leipzig, Munich and Kiel, followed by a doctorate as a Dr. oec. publ. In 1921 he moved to Essen , where a large part of the Waldthausen family is based. Together with his cousin Ernst von Waldthausen, he founded the private bank Waldthausen & Co. Like the other family members, he put the focus of business on industrial development.

In 1922 in Essen- Bredeney he had the architect Oskar Kunhenn build a spacious villa on the Markuspfad . Marianne , the daughter of his adopted daughter Asta von Kretschmann, and her husband Richard von Weizsäcker later lived there for a few years .

In 1937 Fritz von Waldthausen was elected to the supervisory board of Rheinstahl AG . After World War II , he founded together with the banker August von Finck , the Düsseldorf bank Waldthausen & Co . From 1958 to 1962 Richard von Weizsäcker was personally liable partner of the bank. As a banker, Fritz von Waldthausen was a member of numerous boards and supervisory boards .

With his pronounced social and church commitment, Fritz von Waldthausen enjoyed a high reputation. He played a major role in bringing about the German Evangelical Church Congress in Essen in 1950.

Fritz von Waldthausen died on December 12, 1957 at the age of 70 in Essen and was buried in the Bredeney cemetery.
