Fronveste (Herrieden)
As a tower, the Fronveste was part of the former city fortifications of Herrieden in the Central Franconian district of Ansbach . The building is registered under the monument number D-5-71-166-13 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list. The Fronveste is located on the northern city wall. The postal address is Fronveststraße 12.
The Fronveste ('Veste Haus') was originally a defense tower with a square floor plan. In the years 1415 to 1429 it was reinforced by a semicircular porch, which promised better protection against cannon fire. The building served as a prison until 1901. Today the tower is used as a residential and commercial building.
