The Froschfelsen , also called Froschsteinklippe , in the Harz Mountains is a natural monument near Ilsenburg in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt . It is a formation of granite rocks, which have the shape of a sitting frog .

The frog rock is located in the northern part of the Hochharz in the Harz National Park, southwest of Ilsenburg. It is located a little to the southwest below the summit of the Meineberg ( 544.5  m above sea  level ), which rises northwest of the Ilse , at about 515  m above sea level. NN .

The frog rock is included as No. 5 in the system of stamping points of the Harz hiking pin; the stamping point is in a nearby refuge .
