action

On Christmas Eve , a teacher hires Professor Hinkle, a rather clumsy magician, to entertain the children for the school's Christmas party. However, after his tricks fail, he throws away his hat and gives up.

After school, the children play in the snow and build a snowman. They want to give it a name and in the end they agree on "Frosty". Hocus Pocus, Professor Hinkle's rabbit, comes running with the wizard's hat and when he lands on Frosty's head, the hat brings him to life. When Hinkle sees this, he takes his hat back and doesn't want to leave it to the children. But the rabbit Hocus brings the hat back to the children, who put it back on Frosty's head and bring it back to life. The children are happy, but Frosty feels the temperature begin to rise and he threatens to melt. The children suggest taking it to the North Pole by train, where it will never melt. On the way to the train station, they all move through the city singing, which amazes the residents. Having no money for tickets, Frosty, Hocus and Karen, one of the children, sneak aboard a refrigerated freight car. Karen expects to be home before dinner that evening. Meanwhile, Hinkle clings to a train carriage and still demands his hat back.

The train takes them north, where night is falling and Karen is starting to freeze. On foot, Frosty tries to keep Karen warm and even carries her in her arms, but cannot keep her warm. At Frosty's request, the rabbit convinces Hocus to bring some forest animals for Karen wood for a campfire. Frosty fears that the fire alone will not be enough and that Karen will not survive long in the cold weather. Hocus hops off to get Santa Claus so he can bring Karen back home, but meanwhile wizard Hinkle catches up with the group and still demands his hat back. Frosty and Karen flee to a greenhouse full of poinsettias. Despite Karen's concerns, Frosty steps into the warm greenhouse with her. Karen can finally warm up again and Frosty just wants to stay with her for a while. But Hinkle arrives and locks the door of the greenhouse, so that Frosty is also trapped in the warmth.

Hocus leads Santa Claus to the greenhouse, where Karen kneels in front of the meanwhile melted Frosty and weeps bitterly. However, Santa explains that Frosty cannot melt because it is made of Christmas snow and will always come back in winter. Then he opens the door of the greenhouse and lets in a gust of wind that refreshes Frosty. At the moment when Karen is about to put the hat on the snowman, Hinkle comes and wants his top hat back. However, Santa threatens not to bring him Christmas presents for the rest of his life if he does not give Frosty the hat. Santa Claus also indicates that he would bring him a new top hat on Christmas morning. Hinkle storms home full of joy while Santa Claus puts his hat on Frosty and brings him back to life. He takes Karen home on the sledge and Frosty to the North Pole. Santa and Frosty promise to return for next Christmas.
