The Fryderyk Chopin is a steel brig completed in 1992 . She was laid down in 1989 at the Dora shipyard in Gdynia and put into service in March 1992; the designer is Zygmunt Choreń . It combines the characteristics of a square sailer with those of a racing yacht, was successful in various regattas and attended many international events, such as B. the Kieler Woche or the Hanse Sail in Rostock .

From 1992 to 1996 Fryderyk Chopin drove for the "International Class Afloat Foundation", which offers young people the opportunity to gain valuable life experiences and to experience adventures at sea through sailing .

Today it belongs to the European School of Law and Administration in Warsaw.

Accident with loss of rig

During a hurricane storm southwest of the Scilly Isles , the Fryderyk Chopin lost both of her masts in autumn 2010. At first she lost the foremast. Later the second mast also broke. The Fryderyk Chopin made an emergency call and was eventually towed by the British Coast Guard in force 9 wind. No crew members were injured.
