Afghanistan lost their first game 1-0 to India . However, since it was an U-23 selection, the game is not officially recognized by FIFA or other institutions. The other games against the Maldives (1: 3) and Nepal (0: 3) were also lost, so that the team was eliminated for the fourth time in the preliminary round when they participated in the fourth finals.
