The Furse Peninsula is a peninsula in the eastern part of Gibbs Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is east of The Spit .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1980 after Commander John Richard Furse (* 1935) of the Royal Navy , head of the Joint Services Expedition to Elephant Island Group (1976-1977).
